About NoseyWork

NoseyWork is run by Christer Hagenes Opdahl in Klokkarvik, just outside Bergen. The scent containers are designed here and 3D-printed in PLA, in four colours. The idea came from our own nosework training: the gear needed to stay put exactly where the dog was meant to search, no matter the surface.

Train anywhere, indoors and out

Nosework training is about flexibility. Some days the sun is out and it's perfect for a session in the woods or the garden. Other days it's wind and rain, and it's good to be able to train indoors, in the living room or the garage. Wherever you and your four-legged companion happen to be, a lack of gear shouldn't get in the way.

That's why we designed the scent containers with exactly this in mind. Every product comes with a built-in magnet, so you can attach them to the fridge, the washing machine, a car body, or any other metal surface. They also work with a hook, so you can hang them from branches, fences, curtains, or furniture. The Nosework Multiset also comes with a suction cup, ideal for windows, smooth walls, tiles, and mirrors.

With these options, it's hard to find a place where you can't set up a training challenge: in the bathroom, in the car, out in nature, or at home in the living room. It also makes it easier to keep training interesting and varied, both for you and your dog.

Variation is the key to better learning

Dogs are remarkably intelligent, smarter than many people give them credit for. While we as owners assume the dog is learning to find the scent, what can actually happen is that the dog learns to recognise patterns instead. Maybe it's noticed the scent is always in the bottom-left corner. Or that you always place the same container in the same spot. That's when you risk false alerts, where the dog is guessing based on habit instead of using its nose.

This is why we make scent containers in several shapes and sizes. By switching between Kube, Classic, and Multiset, you force the dog to trust its nose rather than visual cues or learned patterns. The dog has to work harder and think more. It can't guess based on appearance. The variation keeps training interesting, and the nose gets used consistently.

When your dog masters finding scent regardless of the container's shape, size, and placement, you know you've built a solid foundation. That's when the two of you have real nosework skills, not just a learned routine.
